[Super Smash Land] Final Boss Announced

It is with great pleasure that I announce to you the final boss for Super Smash Land. Here I will be straying from the original series and be excluding the Master Hand. Instead, I bring one of the most talented and accomplished artists onto the battlefield to fight. This star has been itching to be in Smash since she blew up onto the music scene. With phenomenal vocals and magical wordplay, her skill will test you on the battlefield. I am talking about none other than…

Rebecca Black!

Her attacks consists of:

  • Weighing Conundrums such as which seat to sit in.
  • Explaining the Days of the week.
  • Eating Cereal
  • Getting Down
  • Looking Forward
  • Riding in the Back of a Car

I hope you all enjoy the greatness that this boss will exemplify. Of course the fight will be accompanied by Inversephase’s chiptune rendition of Rebecca’s hit song, Friday.

Smash Land @ MAGFest

Hey guys!
So I just got back from the 4 day Music and Gaming Festival located right outside of our nation’s capital, Washington DC. The experience was pretty amazing and I met lots of cool people including Eric Ruth, Inversephase (the chiptune artist for Smash Land), Dac, BrentalFloss, and others! There were tons of people who loved games there, so it was the perfect opportunity to get some exposure for Smash Land.

I brought down a demo of the game that is basically right in between Demo v1 and Demo v2. Link was complete and balanced and Saffron City was completed. Dac showed me this awesome way of using a WiiMotes to play Smash Land using a program called GlovePie. I will make a tutorial post on how to set this up soon, but I can tell you now that it is the most fun way to play Smash Land. The two-button, very simple controls feel great and plus/minus work very well for start and select. Here is a video showing me and a few others trying out Smash Land on a laptop on the last day of the con.

So the convention was a great success, and lots of people gave their opinions on characters, stages, gameplay changes, etc. Alongside, Eric Ruth’s games, Return all Robots, and Star Blaster, Super Smash Land was one of the convention’s main showcased games, with people playing it on the main projector in the Game Room for a few hours on Saturday. I had a lot of fun going and even got to the quarter finals in a Brawl Tournament haha. I greatly look forward to the next convention and the next chance to get some Smash Land feedback.

Smash Land – Demo 1 Coverage

So after a successful launch of the first demo, I am now hard at work on getting Link and Pikachu in the game and functioning. The next demo looks to be very exciting with 2 more characters 3 more stages and an arcade mode! There is no planned release date yet, but I am making sure that the quality is as high as i can achieve.

But now, I’d like to take a minute and share some of my favorite reviews or coverage on the first demo which was featured on Kotaku, 1up, and GameInformer!

Tom Goldman – The Escapist

Tom has a very strong and simple writing style and Brendan enjoyed his term – Audio Engineer.

RchrdJ – Cheap Ass Gamer

RchrdJ gives a very detailed review of the demo while showing a clear understanding of the project’s goals and capabilities all with strong writing skills.

Robert Workman – GamePlayBook

With a very well organized article, great use of images, and a clear and direct writing style, Robert gives much praise for the first demo and its authenticity, and I hope he checks out Demo 2!

That’s all for now guys, I have a lot of developing to take care of! Feel free to comment here if you found a cool article or forum topic about smash land. I am always interested in hearing what people think.
